About Us
The Somerville Mathematics Fund, an affiliate of Dollars for Scholars,  was chartered in September 2000 to celebrate and encourage achievement in mathematics in the city of Somerville, Massachusetts.  We are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization run completely by volunteers.  Our Board Members include volunteers from Somerville and the Greater Boston Area.

Our Founder
Erica Voolich, an accomplished mathematical educator is our founder and president. She has an article published in the Association for Women in Mathematics Newsletter. Click here for the article web version. Erica has also has been featured as a math educator on the EDC website. She discusses how the Somerville Mathematics Fund had its beginnings. She was 2007 recipient of the SSDS Teacher recognition award for excellence in teaching mathematics. Erica has been inducted into the Massachusetts Association of Teachers in Mathematics Hall of Fame for Excellence in the area of Mathematics Education.

• We offer renewable mathematics scholarships to students who were residents of Somerville, Massachusetts during their high school years, without regard to which high school the applicant attended. 
• Scholarship Winners: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 and 2008.

• Application: The postmark application deadline for the next scholarship cycle is 11 April 2009. 
• We offer grants of up to $500 for a K - 12 teacher of Somerville students for a project to improve or enrich mathematics instruction in the classroom or in an after-school program.  The teacher should be teaching in a school located in Somerville, Massachusetts.

      Did a lottery of names from poetry, poster, song writers, skit writers and performers and teeshirt designers.
    • Everyone was given a small pie from Table Talk Pies to take home.
